Gaining Control - A 40lb Weight Loss Journey

“I finally feel like I’m in control of myself and my eating.”

Say hi to Tori! She’s been crushing Keto for almost 3 years, but it hasn’t been a straight path.

“I originally started keto in April of 2017. However my journey has had many ups and downs, with me giving in to my binge eating urges. I really buckled down and restarted in September 2019.

Both my original start and my restart were prompted by the same thing: a binge spiral that ultimately led to me getting fed up with myself. I wanted to get control of my life and my health.”

Tori’s results have gone beyond just her inspiring weight loss.

“Physically, I am down 40 pounds from my original start weight, and I have lost 7 inches off my waist. The mental changes are way bigger, though. I finally feel like I’m in control of myself and my eating. I have a better relationship with food. I lift weights 5+ times a week and I really view my food as a way to fuel my body. I haven’t binged in over 5 months, and that’s the thing I am most proud of.”

So what was the beginning like for her?

“In the beginning, I ate the same thing every day: coffee, bacon, eggs, and half an avocado for breakfast and a grilled chicken salad with the other half of the avocado for lunch. I did intermittent fasting so I didn’t do dinner. I found the repetition really grounding, instead of boring. There was a certainty to it. I knew what I was going to eat and I had a plan and that made me feel strong. Between that and the original motivation to start and the affirmation of seeing the pounds drop, I felt unstoppable!”

We’re so impressed with Tori’s dedication and perseverance to hit the goals that she already has. However, for Tori, she’s just getting started.

“Ultimately, I want to lose another 45-50 pounds. I want to get my body fat percentage down to about 25%. I want to keep working on my strength, and I don’t ever want to binge eat again.”

What advice does she want to give to everyone else out there on their journeys?

“Start simple, never give up, and find a community to support you. Community is everything!”
